Federation lets two Sanctuaries share specific things across the boundary: tools in The Shed, marketplace Listings, federation-type Proposals, and member visibility for cross-Sanctuary projects. Here's how to set up your first connection.
Prerequisites
- Your Sanctuary needs to be on the Ecosystem plan (the connecting Hub), or both Sanctuaries on Village minimum.
- The other Sanctuary's steward needs to be ready to accept on their side.
- Both stewards should agree out-of-band (a phone call, ideally) on what you're sharing and why.
Step 1: Find the other Sanctuary
Open the Mycelium page in your sidebar. Search by Sanctuary name. If they're public-facing, they'll appear. If not, you'll need their Mycelium ID, which the other steward can copy from their own Settings.
Step 2: Send the connection request
Click their card > Request Connection. Include a short note explaining why you want to federate. The other Sanctuary's stewards see the request in their Council.
Step 3: They accept (or decline)
The other side approves the connection through a short Proposal. If they Consent, the federation activates. If they Block, you get a polite "not at this time" notification.
Step 4: Choose what to share
Once connected, both Sanctuaries see the option to mark specific Resources and Listings as "shareable across federation." Nothing is shared automatically — you opt each item in. Federation-type Proposals are visible to both sides by default.
What you can never share
Personal member data (telegram handles, dietary restrictions, mood signals) stays inside its home Sanctuary. Private Scrolls stay private. The Ledger is never shared.
Disconnecting
Either side can disconnect at any time from Settings > Ecosystem. Disconnection is instant and clean; nothing is deleted, just unshared.
