Some communities can afford more than €29/month. Some specifically want to fund open software for communities that can't. The Sustainer option lets a Village-tier Sanctuary pay €49, €79, €99, or a custom amount each month. You get the full Village feature set and your Sanctuary is listed on our Patrons page (a public thank-you wall).

No. Start a 30-day trial of Village, Hamlet, or Ecosystem without entering payment details. At the end of the trial you can subscribe, or your sanctuary auto-downgrades to Seedling without losing data.
If you sign up before August 1, 2026 (our public launch), you lock in 25% off any paid tier for the lifetime of your subscription. The discount stays with you through renewals, tier changes, and any future price increases — for as long as you stay subscribed. Cancelling forfeits the perk: if you ever stop your subscription, you can't reclaim the early-bird rate when you come back. It also can't be combined with the Community Access Fund grant — you'd take whichever saves you more.
Hamlet is Village plus one federation connection, doubled member cap (25 → 50), and a larger file-storage quota. If your community is past 25 adults or you want to federate with one neighbouring Sanctuary, Hamlet is the right tier. If you're under 25 people and don't need federation yet, stay on Village.
No. Pricing is flat per Sanctuary up to the included member limits. You shouldn't be penalised for growing your community.
Yes. Your user account is a passport. Join a Village-tier sanctuary, a Seedling sanctuary, and an Ecosystem hub all with one login. As a member, you never pay; the Sanctuary covers the subscription.
Yes. Registered non-profits, community land trusts, and tight-budget intentional communities can apply to the Community Access Fund for 25% off the Village or Hamlet tier. Note that this can’t be combined with the Early Cultivator perk — you’d take whichever applies.

Your Sanctuary moves to a 'Dormant' state. All data stays readable and exportable. You can re-activate at any time and pick up exactly where you left off. Members can't create new Seeds or invite new people while dormant.
Prices are shown excluding VAT. EU customers see their country's VAT rate added at checkout (Stripe handles this automatically). Customers outside the EU pay no VAT. For Danish customers (where Arbos Folk is registered), 25% MOMS applies.
Yes, anytime, from the Settings → Sanctuary tab. Switching to yearly is effective immediately and you're charged the prorated difference. Switching to monthly takes effect at your next renewal date.
You can cancel any time from Settings → Sanctuary; your Sanctuary keeps full access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Beyond the EU 14-day withdrawal window, we don't pro-rate refunds for the unused portion of a monthly or yearly term. The full policy is in our Terms (sections 4 & 5).
You can add members for €1 per member per month on any paid tier. You'll see a friendly nudge in Settings to add capacity. If you're regularly well above your tier's cap, the next tier up usually makes more sense.
Yes, always. Personal data: Settings → Account & Privacy → Download My Data (full JSON). Sanctuary data: Settings → Sanctuary for CSV exports of Seeds, Inventory, and Ledger. Your data belongs to you.
Card payments (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, plus regional methods like iDEAL and Bancontact) via Stripe. SEPA Direct Debit for yearly subscriptions on request. Bank transfer for community-scale annual plans; contact hello@ara.earth.
Source-available with a Public Benefit license, not yet fully open source. The roadmap moves toward open source once the federation protocol stabilises. Read the Manifesto for the long view.
ARA is built and maintained by Arbos Folk, a small studio dedicated to tools for land stewardship and community resilience. "Arbos Folk" is the legal entity that processes your payment. Same team behind ARA, just the legal name on the receipt.
