Offline Capabilities & Connectivity

How to use ARA when you're out in the field without signal.

wifi_off

We know that many regenerative communities exist in places where cell service is spotty or non-existent. ARA is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA) with basic offline resilience.

What works offline?

If you have loaded the app while online, you can:

  • View Data: Navigate through Gardens, Tasks, and Scrolls that you have recently viewed.
  • Reference: Look up resource manuals in the Library.

What requires connection?

Currently, writing data (logging hours, completing tasks, voting) requires an active connection to sync with the database. We use Google Firestore, which attempts to queue writes locally, but for data safety, we recommend verifying your actions once you are back in range of WiFi.

Best Practice

If you are heading out to the field, open the app while near the house/WiFi to "freshly load" the day's tasks. This caches the data on your device so you can reference it while you work.
