Mycelium: Finding the Right Person for the Job

The Mycelium is two things in one page: a searchable directory of every member you share a Sanctuary with, and a visual graph of how Sanctuaries and Gardens connect.

Finding skills

Search by skill keyword in the top bar. Results pull from the Skills field on every member's Profile. If your village has 30 people and four of them know plumbing, you'll see the four in three seconds.

This is why the skills field matters. A village with empty skills fields is a village whose plumbing question gets sent to all-villagers and answered by guesswork. A village with filled-in skills is one that gets routed to the right person on the first try.

What you can see, and what you can't

As of April 2026, the directory is scoped: you see members of Sanctuaries you actually belong to, plus members of Sanctuaries that are federated to yours. You don't see the entire ARA network. More on the privacy update.

For each member you can see name, photo, skills, dietary needs, and which Sanctuary you share. You don't see their email or telegram unless they've made those visible.

The graph view

Toggle to Graph to see how everything connects. Sanctuaries are nodes coloured by plan tier. Gardens hang off their parent Sanctuary. Federation links draw between Sanctuaries. If you're an Ecosystem Hub admin, you'll also see vitality signals on each Node.

This view is more useful than it looks. When a federation gets to four or five connected Sanctuaries, the graph is the only way to see "wait, who's connected to who again?" without re-asking each Sanctuary's steward.

Connecting to another Sanctuary

Click any unconnected Sanctuary's card > Request Connection. The other side approves through their Council. Full walkthrough in Your first federation.

One genuine pro move

When someone joins your Sanctuary, walk them through their Profile in the first week — specifically the skills field. Ten minutes of "what do you know how to do?" pays back for years. The Mycelium is only as useful as the data inside it, and that data starts when people fill in their profile honestly.
